Tasmania is an island to the south of Victoria with Hobart it's captital. Being the southernmost state it looks unlike any other because of a cool climate, so it is lush and green, and it is one of the most mountainous islands in the world.
Quaint fishing villages dot the coast which is popular with tourists. The northern coast has volcanic soil and is rich farming land.
Lake St Clair is Australia's deepest lake nestled between spectacular ranges which stretch to the lonely wind swept sub artic southern coast. The south west corner is protected and is one of the last remaining temperate wildernesses. 15% of Australia's plant life is only found in Tasmania.
