Dip. Fine Art 1995 Claremont School of art, Western Australia. Creativity has always been a part of my life and growing up with an artist for a mother inspired me to channel my flair for art and design into a career. As a result, a big part of my life has been devoted to using creative expression as a tool to help empower people and encourage them to move forward in their lives. I have facilitated art and design to people with physical, mental and intellectual disabilities, as well as with prisoners and both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. I grew up in the ‘outback’ of Western Australia, in a small very hot semi-arid desert town called Tom Price. The heat and colours of the land has had a direct influence on my work and even though I no longer reside in the Pilbara my work continues to reflect elements of the land. I always work intuitively and paint with spontaneity. I am an intuitive energy painter and have neither a favourite theme nor style because of the method I use to channel my artistic expression. I am very design orientated, enjoying flowing compositions, boldness, expressionism, naivety, abstraction and stylisation. I was selected and featured in the W.A On-Show Exhibition at the opening of the new Convention Centre in Perth, as one of two hundred high-achieving Western Australians in 2004 and have won numerous art awards. I currently facilitate ‘Creative Wisdom’ Intuitive Art workshops/classes privately. To find out more or to view more works go to www.monicakotulla.com.au | |
